Musician's Alley

Still A-Changin'

It's the 2013 update!  My musical journey has taken me to far away places and I've had the good fortune of meeting some amazing people; truly kind and imaginitave people are still out there.  I've hit the trail on a few new instruments and continue to push my limits.  I focused myself on being a good listener and that has helped me soak in so much.  I still feel quite young on my musical path.  I've actually hardly scratched the surface.  Yet through my time of listening I've learned to open up more...both in the music world and the regular everyday life we all live.  It's funny how that works.

The recording studio has stretched itself into 2013 and I've had the opportunity to work with music artists spanning genres from country, bluegrass, rock, to rap.  I've worked with a popular radio talkshow host and worked audio/video work for commercials.  I've even had a Disney Review show with chorus come in.  I have learned from every session, rehearsal, and show.  I know it's been a while since I've published anything on this blog. Well, it's not that I haven't had anything to mention as I've certainly been busy.  Well, everyone and everything needs balance.  I know this now more than ever.  I'm shifting my focus to being more vocal.  If you happen to make it out to a show please come say, "Hello" and you will brighten my life.  I hope I can brighten yours.  See you OUT or IN the studio.

The Times, They Are 'A Changing

Looking back to just a couple of years ago, I don’t think I would’ve ever imagined I’d be teaching where I am now or playing in the groups that I am now without really allowing myself to adapt to change.  I now realize that I’ve picked up so many new skills by allowing myself to transcend the genres I felt comfortable playing on the guitar and/or thought I enjoyed playing the most.  Accepting new challenges is vital for growth.  I’m challenging you to keep things fresh and seek out the information that you need.

The music world is changing at an ever-increasing rate.  The industry’s major labels are disappearing and the online movement has connected so many to the relatively unknown.  In the past month, I have dedicated myself to focusing more time reaching out online.  I've specifically attempted to connect with more musicians of all styles in my area.  To my surprise, I immediately met many new people who’ve already opened new doors for me.  Sometimes it can take a whole lot of effort for very little reward.  Sometimes it can take very little effort to receive a large reward.  Excel in your craft, whatever it may be.  If the guitar is something you want to learn, then go for it.  The Lennon School of Guitar is a place designed to help you achieve your goals.  You never know what tomorrow will bring.  Sometimes a simple reminder can spur the change needed to open a new door.

Thanks and Take Care,
